Two new chess clubs have been added to the Western New York landscape.
The Riverside Chess Club had its first meeting 9-30-08. Next projected meeting dates are:10-9-08, 5-6:30 pm,10-14-08,5-7 pm, 10-23-08, 5-7 pm, 10-28-08, 5-6:30 pm,11-6-08, 5-6:30 pm, 11-20-08,5-6:30 pm, 11-25-08, 5-7 pm December dates to be announced. The Ron Cozzi Old Editions Bookshop Open will be held Saturday October 25,2008 at the Educational Opportunity Center 465 Washington St. Buffalo,NY 14203. This will be a 4 round swiss system event, G/60 EF $15 must be received by 10-18-08, $5 discount each additional family member after one full price entry. On site registration8-8:30 late fee $7,Rds 9-11:30-2:30-5:00 Prize fund $500 b/50 entries . Four sections, Open, U1800,U1400,U1100. One 1/2 pt bye if requested before Rd 1. I personally think that it is great that there our more people interested in developing the minds of our young people, keep up the good work!
The Game of Life
Chess is a game, the game is the same,unlike life the rules don't change! Unlike life the amount of education or the color of our skin will not include or exclude us by choice! Unlike like the rules are clearlyt understood and accepted by all who play this game of choice! In the game of life we can be measured by the size of our intellect or our work ethic, and not the size of our bank accounts! The foundation of our beliefs have been handed down, tested, and subjected to the world's greastest scrutiny ... the word; "His word ...His word cannot fail", it promises justice, if not on this side than definitely on the other side! Oh ... by the way, which game do you play every day, and do you play to win by any means necessary or do you play by someone else's rules?
